Swellendam has a large variety of fabulous restaurants. There are too many good places to mention them all, but within walking distance from Babette are Field and Fork restaurant, De Companije and Drostdy restaurant. They all offer delicious and creative dishes and great local wines from the Robertson area.  During the day you can enjoy great lunches under the monumental oak trees at one of the many restaurants. We are more than happy to help you find the one for you and make advance bookings. Babette is also a good base to explore the excellent wineries in the area. It is hard to resist a day of wine tasting, learning about wines, some scenic driving and a sumptuous lunch in this food and wine paradise.

hamiltondruiven

One of our favourite wine areas is the Hemel en Aarde Valley. It is less known than the other wine routes and located between Cape Town and Swellendam, so perfect to visit while on route. The cool sea breeze and clay soil make this valley the best place for pinot noir and chardonnay. Famous wineries in the valley are Hamilton Russell and Bouchard Finlayson. Have a look on www.hermanuswineroute.com

robertsons

Nearby is the Robertson area, well known for its wine, with some of our favourite wineries like Springfield, Van Loveren and Kranskop. All are open to visitors and the friendly staff will not only open a bottle for you but also share their wine knowledge. See more on www.robertsonwinevalley.com . Learning by drinking, what else could you wish for ?

foodsuppliers

We source all our fresh food from local suppliers and farms in the area. It is great to experience how committed these suppliers are to produce and sell only the best ingredients. A good place to visit is Wildebraam Berry estate, who provide our berries and fruits.
